Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello everybunny 🥰
My name is Tricia. As you may recall, I was terribly abused when I was a baby. I had a broken bone protruding from my tiny body. I was originally rescued by Animal Care & Control. I was in extreme agony waiting for help, which for many bunnies it never comes. They called the rescue and asked if they could take me under their care if not I would be euthanized. I was lucky that the rescue agreed to take me in. They immediately took me to their vet who indicated that I needed to have my leg amputated ASAP. I spent the night at the Vet in preparation for my surgery the next day. The day of the surgery Dr. Romo called the rescued lady and let her know that he had to stop the surgery, as my heart had stopped. He performed CPR on me, and was able to bring me back to life. The vet and the rescue lady knew that my surgery would be risky due to my age and overall condition, but the exposed bone was such a serious issue that it could not be ignored, and the adjacent tissue was badly infected. This could have lead to sepsis, and in short order death.
After the failed surgery the vet and the rescue lady decided that I needed to regain a little strength in order to proceed, so she took me home. In the meantime I was treated with antibiotics, underwent laser treatments and received pain meds.
During the time I was waiting to regain some strength, my bone MIRACULOUSLY ( the Vet’s words) somehow regrew. Amazingly enough, my leg is now healed and fully functional.
Some might argue that bones can grow back. This is true, if the rabbit’s bone still has the growth plate. In my case however, the growth plate of my tibial bone was protruding from my leg. It was black, which was an indication of a dead bone. Thus it would be seemingly impossible for my bone to regrow.
Dr. Romo was incredulous at what he saw on the X-rays, and said what he observed was truly A MIRACLE. He said that he would have never imagined that the bone could regrow, and that the leg could become functional once again.
In reflection, I think that God had a plan for me when my heart stopped during the first attempt to remove my leg.
Now that I a fully recovered, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped I am looking for my furever home, where I will be loved and treated the way all rabbits should be.
I am about 5 months old, weigh 2.4 lbs and litter box trained.
The lady from rescue said that I am an EXTREMELY sweet girl and I absolutely love cuddles.
Would you open your heart and take me home with one of my friends? They are also looking for their forever home. Or do you have a handsome boy looking for a cutie girlfriend?
Please fill out an application so the rescue lady can contact you.
Thank you so much.
Love
Tricia
