Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Tucker is a young Aussie mix with beautiful amber eyes and a tiny tail nub. It's awful cute, the way his whole butt wiggles when he's happy.
Tucker is a puppy, probably around 6 to 9 months old. He has had no accidents in his kennel while staying with us, so as long as his future adopter is good about taking him outside, house training should be a breeze.
We don't know much about his back story - we do know he was very scared when he came in. He looked to our volunteers for comfort and snuggled right in whenever he got the chance. He can be quite the lover boy if you are looking for an affectionate lap dog.
In true puppy style, Tucker is a bundle of energy that loves to play and has shown in true Aussie style to be very smart. He has already learned to sit in the short time he's been with us.
Tucker does have a few qualities that will need continued training. He had no idea how to walk on a leash when he arrived, but he has quickly picked it up and will continue to need positive training. He also can be easily overstimulated and needs training on some manners such as not jumping up. With his puppy enthusiasm he can become so excited that he gets a case of the puppy bites, and will nip at clothing and hands. Fortunately he is treat motivated and can be easily distracted by food.
Clicker training may work with Tucker's intelligence and eagerness to please, and it will help engage his brain. Like any young dog, he experiences the world through his mouth; because of this, we believe he would do best in a house with children 10 and older.
Tucker is a high energy boy who likes other dogs. If you have a resident dog at home, you should plan on bringing them with you to make sure the whole family is in agreement on taking Tucker home! We do not know how he responds to cats or small animals.
This fun young kiddo is going to be a great companion for someone who is willing to go through the tail end of his puppy stage.
Tucker's adoption includes first set of shots, neuter and microchip.
