My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Marissa! After giving birth and raising her young, Marissa is ready for a forever home of her own. A little history on this brave girl: Marissa was found abandoned in a field, completely alone, no food, water or shelter in sight, extremely thin AND had freshly given birth to a litter of 13 puppies. She welcomed our assistance with open paws. She allowed us to care for her while she cared for her babies. She was sweet right from the get-go and proved to be a terrific mom. Despite her challenging entry into motherhood, she successfully nursed her entire litter – they’re all grown now and thriving. Now it's her turn to be doted on by a family that will welcome her into their hearts and home with open arms, a family that will spoil her rotten and show her just how great life can be. She's a deserving girl, sweet and attentive towards humans; likes to be pet and snuggled. She greets every day with a smile that just brightens our hearts. We estimate she was born early 2020. She’s at the perfect age where she's got the puppy mischievous behind her but young enough where she would love daily activity including walks and playtime and plenty of downtime beside her human. She’d do best in a home without other animals. She weighs around 70 lbs, is spayed, up to date with vaccinations and micro-chipped. If interested in providing a home for sweet Marissa, please email us for an application at adoptions@smilingdogfarms.org

Please note we are always in need of foster homes for our dogs, Marissa included. If interested in making a difference in a dog's life, we would love to share with you what it means to be a foster parent. Foster homes greatly increase the chances of speedier adoptions and you'd be making a huge, positive difference in the life of an animal who needs you.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are dedicated to ensuring that our dogs go to a "forever" loving, nurturing home. As a result, our process is stringent, requiring an application, home visit, vet and reference checks and an adoption contract. We want the adoption to be a match made in heaven for both the new adoptive parents and the adopted dog.

Go meet their pets

We provide adoption opportunities for those living in the Northeast who are willing to do long distance adoptions. Many of our dogs live in Wharton, Texas but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.

More about this rescue

Smiling Dog Farms is a 501(c) non-profit animal rescue. We strive to restore hope to the forgotten, neglected and rejected unwanted dogs and puppies rescued from the streets and local kill-shelters. Each dog that enters our rescue receives their full round of vaccinations, gets spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and placed on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Many of our dogs live in Wharton Texas, but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.
