Here's what the humans have to say about me:
To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. Those emails will get the quickest response, we do the best we can, but if we have to follow up with an email asking you about yourself and waiting for a response, well, we have already moved on to the next email that has provided the details. We are doing the best we can to find the right home for each dog or cat, just need your help too! :)
Look out world, here comes Prince Hampshire!! Of course this little fella had to have a unique name, one that might fit this very unique guy! We call him Hammy for short, and that so happens to fit him as well, he is a bit of a ham. He also has the very most adorable underbite and what could possibly be the worlds curliest tail on a dog(don't call Guinness Records yet, lol). It is a tail that would make any pig very proud to sport it on their own fanny. So, of course we named him after a breed of a pig, the Hampshire. We tossed around the name, "Oink", but that could get a little awkward when you are calling for your dog..."Oink, come here Oink...Oink..Oink!!"
We are totally guessing the mix of Hammy. We can see the Shih Tzu for sure(see his pre-haircut pic). But then he does have those unusual featured, the pronounced underbite, the funky little tail and a solid build and a wider gait. So, who knows what he is, we do know he is a little character.
Hammy was with the person that gave him up to the shelter for 2 months. Who knows where he was before that, apparently his life has been a little confusing. But, he is a smart little guy and has acclimated well to his foster home. His first moments he was anxious around the other dogs but not happily joins them in play and seems to enjoy their company.
He has been great with the people in his home but seem to gravitate to women just a little quicker than men. Hammy is just waiting to be someones very best buddy, he is one of those dogs that dotes on his person and he will be that extra special companion! He will do well with a person/family that will not leave him for long hours. Besides, he is so cute and a great companion, why waste all that charm all by himself!! He will do best in a home with older kids, little ones may be a little too stressful for him. We are looking for a dog savvy home that will continue to keep him social and is aware a little patience and understanding will help him acclimate into his new home.
Hammy's adoption fee is $425. He will go home with plenty of supplies to help him settle into his new home. Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.
