Champ is a fighter! And a lover. Always the purrfect gentleman. He’s quiet, friendly, curious, and gets along well with other kitties in his foster home.
Champ has a distinctive facial aberration*, and we lovingly call it his “Elvis sneer.”
“Oh, well, a-bless my soul, but what's wrong with me?
I'm itchin' like a man on a fuzzy tree
My friends say I'm actin' wild as a bug
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm-mm, yeah, yeah, yeah”
— Elvis Presley, the King of Rock ’n’ Roll
If I was on a dating app, my pickup line would be: Hi...I can read lips!
In a human companion, I’m looking for: Someone I can talk to… Someone to snuggle with me, on my terms.
In an animal companion (i.e., house-mate), I'm looking for: A playmate who likes to chase me and run dementedly through the house.
Lots of people say I love to: Jump on shelves and knock things off, so I can watch them hit the floor. (Hey, in my defense, I’m a cat!) I like to “call” my humans when I need their assistance or attention. I like to bird-watch and chatter at them.
Despite my less-than-ideal start in life, I have flourished in FAN's care and am now: Doing great. I can be kinda shy around new people, at first.
From my Foster Mom: His "sneer" has always been an endearing quality to me. It makes Champ so distinctive! I’ve also taught him some hand signals; not sure if he can't hear, or like a typical teenager, refuses to listen. He knows "down," "stop," and "no." Whether or not he chooses to pay attention and obey is another story! Be very patient and tolerant with Champ. He can get quite loud when he wants something. He especially likes to go into the tiled bathroom and sing opera. Champ doesn’t necessarily mind being picked up, although he’s not a FAN of being restrained and squeezed tightly.
FAVORITE TOYS: Anything CATNIP! Springs!
*NOTE: Champ's finder/foster has known him his entire life; he and his siblings were born under her house. Champ was bitten on his face by something venomous as a baby, which caused an ulcer (hence his sneer). While there’s no vet-confirmed diagnosis that Champ is deaf, his foster suspects he may be deaf, or hard of hearing. He tends not to react to loud noises like other cats do, and he might startle if he doesn’t know you’re coming up behind him. That's why she taught him some hand signs. He isn't fond of young kittens and hisses and growls at them.
