Gender: Male
Age: Approx. 9 yrs.
Weight: 60 lbs
Breed: Labrador Retriever/Husky (best guess
Neutered: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
Microchipped: Yes
Adoption Fee: $100.00 (plus tax)
Foster Location: N Ky. Applicants must live within 2 hours of Florence, KY, no exceptions.
Home Recommendation: Single Family. Fenced yard. He enjoys spending time in a fenced yard. Not too long as he'll get bored and was an escape artist in his previous home (foster mom hasn't had this issue with him but he's not left outdoors for extended periods of time).
Kids: He loves everyone, but he's going to barrel through your kids...and they're going to cry. We don't want to be responsible for the tears.
Crate Trained: Yes! All you need to do is throw a few pieces of kibble or a treat in his crate and he can't get in there fast enough.
Cats: He's fine with cats and largely ignores them, but their food would have to be somewhere that he absolutely cannot access.
Potty Trained: Yes!
Dogs: He's great with other dogs...until it comes to food. If there's a dropped treat or a crumb falls off of your plate while you're eating, he becomes obsessed. For this reason, we feel he'd be best as the only dog.
Leash Manners: You'll be hanging on for dear life. No one told him he's a senior and he's as strong as an ox. Probably best to stick to yard time, unless absolutely necessary to take him somewhere.
He's a sweet senior who came to us when his owners decided his latest escape would be his last. Pip ended up in the shelter a few too many times and they'd had enough of his escapades. We're assuming he was left outdoors for long periods of time because he hasn't tried to escape once in his foster home.
Pip is a sweet, older (not so) gentleman who will do anything for food, and we mean anything. He'll climb where you're sure there's no possible way he can climb, open cabinets, rip bags...you name it and he'll find a way. Food needs to be stored away out of sight and locked securely away from his sensitive nose.
He desperately needs a home to live out his senior years. He's the nicest dog, will you give him a chance?
His listing will be removed as soon as he has an approved application
Please be honest! We have many people tell us what they think we want to read, not what's truthful. If there are discrepancies, your application will be denied. It's important for us to place dogs in a home that's suitable. You may be a stellar owner but possibly not a good fit for the dog you were first interested in adopting. We're not trying to offend anyone, we're trying to set everyone up for success. We're a best fit rescue and will verify your vet and personal references.
