My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tanami, affectionately known as Nami, a resilient and energetic little dynamo who has overcome great odds to become the lively, playful dog she is today. Found in a neglected state, severely underweight and nearly hairless, she’s since transformed into a happy, fuzzy, and full-of-life companion. Her journey reflects the meaning of her name, derived from the Warlpiri word meaning `never die,` and she truly embodies this spirit with her playful and determined personality. Now, she’s ready to bring joy, cuddles, and her goofy antics to her forever home.

Nami is high-energy and loves meeting new people and exploring new experiences, though she might initially use her `scare the bear` tactics to appear tough when she’s feeling insecure. Once reassured, she’s all about the back scratches, cuddles, and playtime! A fan of Frisbees and chasing games, Nami thrives on fun with other dogs who enjoy her playful, herding-style energy. While she does well with most dogs who respect boundaries, she’s not suitable for a home with cats, as she finds them a bit too tempting to resist.

This goofy gremlin is house and crate trained, though she values her privacy when it comes to her personal space, especially during meals or naps. With a fun personality that includes cartoonish expressions and a sideways ear, Nami loves low-crowd adventures like hiking and sniff walks. She’s searching for a loving home that’s cat-free, full of scritches, and ready for endless fun. Nami is ready to nom her way into your heart and become your loyal companion!

Additional adoption info

Adoption Process
We have an open adoption policy, so there is no application or interview process. We simply ask that you meet the pet in person before adoption. We have adoption specialists that will help you find the right pet for your family.

Adoption Center
The Adoption Center is located at 7500 N. Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Our Adoption Center is a totally new concept in Oklahoma City where dogs have comfortable, expanded kennels and cats stay in “living rooms” with furniture and toys.

Pets by Appointment
Some amazing dogs get stressed out in a kennel environment like our Adoption Center, and much prefer staying at their foster home until they find their new family. If you see a dog on our website that says “E-Mail to Meet Me” that means that this furry friend is just a click away from getting a ride to the Adoption Center to meet you in person.

Adoption Fees
Adult dogs are $150 to adopt, puppies are $200 to adopt, adult cats are $75 to adopt and kittens are $95 to adopt. All of our pets are microchipped, spayed or neutered, treated with all age-appropriate vaccinations and flea, tick, and heartworm preventative prior to being cleared for adoption, so we put a lot of effort and monetary investment into each of our animals including a two-week quarantine period in a foster home. These adoption fees help cover the costs of our animals’ health and well-being!
