My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**I am located in Georgia, but I can be transported north to you!**

Name: Iris

Breed: Labrador Retriever / Dogo Argentino mix

Sex/Age/Weight: Female, DOB 04/12/23, approximately 55 lbs

Vetting: Spayed, UTD on vaccines, on monthly heartworm, flea & tick preventative, and microchipped.

Crate / house trained: Doing great! She is used to being crated overnight. Being a typical young pup, she needs frequent potty breaks to avoid having accidents in the house.

Energy Level: Typical active puppy!

Training Status / Commands: Working on not jumping up on people and recalls.

Things she likes: She LOVES other dogs. She plays non-stop with another puppy in her foster home, and gets along great with all of the other dogs in her foster home.

Things she doesn’t like: Staying in her crate when her foster mom is working during the day. She’s still so little and gets bored.

Before FAR / My history: Iris and her family were turned in to a shelter when they were less than a week old, and they moved to a foster home a couple of weeks later.

Ideal Family Home: Iris would love to be in a home with other dogs to play with.

Special Notes: Iris’s foster mom says she is SO smart! She does something every day to demonstrate how smart she is.

Iris is still just a baby who will need an adopter who will commit the time to continue to train her, teach her manners, and burn off her considerable energy with play. Our rescue also requires that all adopter's current pets are up-to-date on vaccinations (DHLPP & Rabies) and preventatives (heartworm and flea and tick), unless there is a medical reason not allowing it. All animals in your household should be spayed or neutered unless medically indicated that they should not be or are currently still too young.

If you are interested in giving Iris a furever home, please visit the link below to fill out an application! It is best to submit an application through a computer. We have experienced some problems when applications have been submitted using a mobile device. When you submit the application, you are not obligated to adopt; however, it does reserve for you the opportunity to adopt that particular animal. We review them on a first come first served basis. If your application is approved, we will contact you and allow you the opportunity to adopt. If you have any questions or difficulties, please contact us and we will be glad to help!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the potential adopter filling out an adoption application. In the application, you can specify a particular dog in which you are interested, or let us know what type of pet in which you are looking, so we can find the perfect animal to fit your family and your needs. Once the application is received, a board member will review the application, and make contact with the potential adopter within 48 hours. This initial contact may include further questions/more information, or may include scheduling a meet and greet for you to meet the animal in which you are interested! Once the application is approved or the meet and greet goes well, then the adoption can be finalized. To finalize the adoption, an adoption agreement must be completed, the adoption fee paid (we accept cash, paypal, or credit/debit card), and then the potential adopter can take their new family member home with them or schedule pick up of their furry family member! The adoption fee varies based on the animal. Some of our animals have the fees listed in their individual post but if you do not see one then please feel free to contact us and we would be happy to let you know the cost to adopt a particular pet. If you are interested in any of our animals, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!!

Go meet their pets

We hold adoption events some Saturdays at various locations around middle GA from 11 am-3 pm. Check our Facebook page for updates on Events! We are also able to arrange meet and greets for local adopters!

More about this rescue

Furever After Rescue, a 501(c)(3) organization, is a no-kill, foster-based rescue devoted to finding homes for animals needing a loving home. Most of our animals come from local, high-kill shelters with some occasionally coming from bad situations and owner surrender. Our animals are immediately placed in foster homes where they learn love and are taught how to live in a home environment. All of our animals are up-to-date on their age-appropriate vetting needs and are tested for personality traits as best as possible. We have many wonderful pets looking for forever homes!

We are currently based out of Macon, GA but partner with a quality private transport group that helps us get our furbabies to homes up and down the east coast so don't let distance deter you from contacting us about one of our furry friends!
