If you are looking for a quiet, no-fuss companion to greet you at the end of a working day, Nelson is your boy.
Rescued from a colony in the East Bay in January of 2023, Nelson acclimated to indoor life in just a few days. He's such a friendly and easy-going cat that it's hard to believe he has spent his whole life living outdoors, but his tipped ear shows he was trapped and neutered at some point in his past, and then put back when he was assumed to be feral.
He is anything but! His current foster is the colony caretaker, and Nelson has been a daily greeter at feeding time year after year, a friendly and very mellow buddy who tagged along as the colony manager did his daily chores.
If you prefer a relaxed and cool older cat who still has a lot of playfulness in him but has left the crazy, messy days of kittenhood behind, Nelson is the one for you, He would do fine as an only cat as long as he had a good window perch, and he gets along well with other cats,
Nelson shows the quietness and friendliness of Russian Blues, with calm olive green eyes and a soft gray coat that has a touch of white on his chest.
If you want for a companion who will sit with you while you watch TV or read a book, or someone to keep you company in the kitchen (he won't say no to the occasional treat!) then Nelson is the cat for you. If you are interested in adopting Nelson and completing his rescue story (and earning the rights to brag about becoming Nelson's hero!) then please fill out our adoption questionnaire.
Nelson is vaccinated and microchipped, and he is already neutered. On his last visit to the vet he was estimated to be about eight years old. We strongly recommend that Nelson be an indoor only cat.
