My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our Mission: Woof Pack Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit working to improve the health, welfare, and safety of Houston's dogs. Our organization was started by one dog mom on a mission to help those animals in need. Our goal is to find loving homes for abandoned, lost, forgotten or mistreated dogs from the streets of Houston and surrounding areas.

Currently being fostered in Houston, Tx with transport available out of state.

The DNA results are in and Luke is part labrador retriever, part american pitbull terrier, and part german shepard, which explains Luke's pointy ears! He is approximately 15 months old. Luke is a very handsome fellow with a very shiny jet black coat , with white on his chest. He has the whitest teeth I've ever seen and very pointy ears, kind of like "Spock" ears.

His story: Luke and his sibling sister, Leia were found roaming a neighborhood, searching for shelter, food and water for 3 weeks before I saw them. Unfortunately, as so many strays in Houston go, neither one was fixed and she was in heat. Every male dog from the area found poor Leia, much to Luke's upset. We left out food and water where we got notification of sightings and finally found them, exhausted and hungry. After we managed to catch them, all of the other dogs disappeared and both of them just ate and slept for days. He had war wounds and bites healing and she was exhausted. I had her vetted and scheduled for spay immediately, but Luke was not having his sister be gone from his sight and tried to escape over, under or thru the fence. Sooooo, it turned into a double day, all without a plan. Anyone in rescue knows, you have to have a place to go, but the universe had other plans. We had to board them at first and that gave us a chance to assess their temperments as well. They relied heavily on each other at first and were anxious when separated, but the trainer recommended we work on separating them so they can flourish as individuals. They do well with the other dogs, and are getting more used to being independent of each other.

He is:
• hw negative
• neutered
• UTD on all vaccinations
• Microchipped
• He is good with all the other dogs, small and large, and is gentle around the small dogs.
• potty trained, (even is learning about the bells on the door)
• crate trained for naps and night night. (all of the dogs are used to crating after they eat to digest)

He still has puppy in him, so he likes to dig, chew on things, play hard, and then lay out in the sun. Luke has the pointiest ears, but only one stands up most of the time. He is a sweetheart and just wants pets and belly rubs and rolling around. He loves his walks too! Since Luke and his sibling grew up together, it would be ideal for him to have a fur buddy at his new home. I would love for him to have a yard to play in and a home with a cool bed to lay on his back and dream of chasing butterflies with a full belly.
He has a very sweet disposition, is not food aggressive at all, learns very quickly and has gotten used to being separated from his sibling. He is good around dogs of all sizes and does respond to our "dog whistle" if he or any others are playing too ruff.

**Man’s Best Friend partners with us for training and boarding and can give additional information on Luke’s personality. Once we have an initial chat the rescue will put you in contact with them. Please email us if you are interested in giving our handsome boy a loving home and we will notify MBF to give out info.

**Luke is available to transport to Austin, TX. or out of state, preferably northern states.

More about this rescue

Woof Pack Rescue is a small non-profit that was started because of the great need in the Houston, Tx. area to help dogs that have been abandoned, lost, strays that found their way to neighbors, friends, people on social media. We are an all volunteer organization, always in need of fosters. We work solely on donations, some for particular dogs to the vet, others for the vetting that goes into each dog. I've had a kitten or two join the woof pack, but we are primarily a dog rescue. If you would like to volunteer or foster, please email us at info@woofpackrescue.org. If you would like to donate, please visit our paypal donation link, https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=CKFSEWQ7DZQYW. There are so many dogs currently in need, please consider adopting, or fostering.
