Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Otis von Osten is a gorgeous, 4-5 year-old, long-haired Shepherd mix. Otis is the kind of dog whose whole world revolves around a person. On walks, at rest and playing, you can always expect to see Otis’s gorgeous face smiling up at you to see if you’re happy with him — you’re the sun and he’s a sunflower. Otis can show you some commands like Sit, Down and Paw, and takes treats nicely. This black-and-brown boy likes other dogs, especially the calm ones, but is definitely more people-centric (no cats for this medium- energy boy, please). Come by and pet him to see — and keep petting him because being petted is his favorite.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Otis von Osten YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org
Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

In order to adopt any dog from Westside German Shepherd Rescue, one must fill out an adoption application first. Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
