Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Crash is almost ready for his furever home. This boy is a terrific pup! He is a 1 year old (13 months) Texas Heeler - also known as an Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle dog mix. He is small at 25 lbs, and packs a huge personality. Wherever Crash is, there is a party. No need to crash a party, when you have one with him!
Crash knows leave it and wait, stay, and his recall (without critters nearby) is good. He needs additional training on jumping and leash, but he is such a good boy. He is bubbly and fun, and LOVES to cuddle. If you are sitting on the floor, he will curl up in year lap immediately. Crash hangs with me in my office, while I am working and sleeps, but as soon as it is play/walk time, he is ready to go. His temperament is solid, with no stranger danger. He does take a minute to warm up, but it is fast.
Crash is very dog and people friendly. He adores playing with my standard Aussie, and plays hard. He is fast and smart about his playing, and will get the zooms, which is pretty cute.
Another nice thing about Crash is that he is not overly barky. He will alert and then, is done.
Finally, he is fully house trained, no accidents ever! And is crate trained - he sleeps quietly from 10:00. -7:00.
Crash would be the perfect pal for an active person, who likes hiking, walking and running. I walk him twice/day (20 min - 60 minutes/walk) and then, he plays with my dog. That seems to keep him satisfied. He is an outgoing, confident young dog who is easy to be with. Sensitive to you, smart and trainable.
So, what's not to love? Well, Crash does have strong prey drive. No squirrels will dare enter your yard. This means that he is not a great candidate for a home with cats, or young children. He will herd the children - I am 100% positive of that. So, if children are present, the home MUST be a very savvy Aussie/ACD house. Kids over the age of 12 and dog savvy are fine though - and would probably adore Crash.
Crash is being fostered in Falls Church, VA. Here is the application:
