Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This guy has been in rescue for a long time. He joined us as a 5 month old puppy with a badly broken leg. After multiple vet recommendations we amputated and he has not looked back. He’s now over a year. He’s looking for a breed savvy owner. No small animals/cats for this guy and old kids only.
Some breed typical behaviors be exhibits:
he is possessive of food - He will be successful if you put him in a crate or separate room before prepping dinner and while feeding, until all dogs are finished and bowls are picked up. FM wouldn’t recommend letting him in the kitchen area w other dog while making dinner, snacks, etc
A bit of leash reactivity- when on leash, paxton tends to bark and fixate on passing dogs and/or people. Most of this is excitement and is really typical of his breed. With routine and ongoing training this is easily fixed. He’s able to be successful as adoption events with some support of his handler to redirect him when needed.
paxton is crate trained! This is his safe place when he needs to decompress. he stays in his crate anytime he is home alone with a toy that has no risk of being ingested (like a tough nyla bone) he is still learning how to handle situations when he is overstimulated, for example when his person comes home. as a precaution we keep him and his current foster friends separate until the energy settles.
paxton is e-collar and muzzle trained. His foster has worked with him and has a wealth of knowledge to relay/support in transition. He has been very successful living with other dogs as long as his environment is managed to set him up for success.
Pax will require a home with older kids able to redirect him and work on his training with him.
