Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Shaggy!! Shaggy is believed to be an 8-month-old double Merle Aussie poodle blend.
He is wired fur and does shed. Shaggy was also born mostly blind and deaf but this does not hold him back at all. I don't believe he knows he's different. He adjusts just fine to any surroundings. Shaggy is dog cat and all small critter friendly from a flock of birds to indoor pet rabbits and has done well with them all.
Shaggy loves human attention and interacts well with all he meets. He is an active playful outgoing happy-go, lucky social boy. He is at 31 pounds and fully grown. Shaggy would do best with another playful active dog in the home who will give him Qs guidance and correction. He needs this to thrive. He does best in a home where someone is home mostly, active, and enjoys the outdoors but also loves to stay in and snuggle with plenty of cuddles offered.
Nothing wrong with binge-watching Netflix on those gloomy days. Patience is key with Shaggy as he is still very much a puppy and doesn't understand his limitations. Shaggy has been around and interacted/met over 200 dogs, and lives with cats, rabbits, and a large flock of chickens and ducks. Shaggy is house and crate trained. He learned within a day to use the bells at the door to let us know he needs to potty. Shaggy does great on car rides, walks awesomely on a leash, and works hard not to jump on humans. Shaggy does not see himself as a special need and nor should we. He is just a regular happy doggo.
He needs a 6ft fence as he has managed to jump a 4ft fence lol. He is a puppy learning boundaries and manners and doing so well too. He is sweet outgoing and a burst of happiness on a daily. He's a great cuddled momma or daddy boy. He is adventurous so common sense on your part needs practice. Shaggy is house and crate trained, current to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto & corona, 1 or 3-year rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped including free registration for life, spay/neutered, heartworm & lyme diseases tested negative upon adoption, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention.
Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greet are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter. Please do not ask us to pay for this.
Previous adopters of AHS have the first choice and are not expected to pay another adoption fee again. Donation of their choice is welcomed.
Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a must.

More about this rescue
Every animal in our care comes to us with their own story. Many of them have had it harder than others, and have scars that need a healing touch. What they all have in common, is that they came to us from other rescues/shelters that felt they couldn’t take on their individual needs, and give them the necessary care needed to help them bloom into family pets. Most pets we welcome into our program, need extensive behavior and/or medical care before they are ready for their forever homes. We provide each pet with an unlimited amount of time to recover, along with individualized care and training customized to there needs.
We at Animal House Sanctuary love a challenge and have a soft spot for these special pets in need. Most of all, we love seeing each individual pet change into the family pet they were always meant to be. Watching this firsthand, is beyond rewarding and fills us with a joy that cannot be described in words.
We are a 501(c) Licensed Nonprofit organization that is ran 100% by Volunteers. Our mission is to help homeless animals find great forever homes. Our heart is with the community, helping families keep their pets at home. We are involved with informing our local community about the importance of spaying/neutering their pets. We also help feed the homeless and their pets. Senior pets are precious and dear to our hearts which is why we are involved with the Hospice Heaven program. This consists of pulling older cats and dogs from high kill shelters and placing them in a loving home. This often includes matching senior pets with a Senior Adaptor. Sharing joy and respect for all precious life is something that we love doing, and will continue to do, for it fills our hearts.
