Introducing PONYO! Ponyo joined us last week after his family had some important things to do and he wasn't able to go along. Ponyo was originally adopted in Alaska and was with his family for most of his 5 years. He is quite the traveler and rides well in the car. Ponyo is great with other dogs and lived with a toddler. He is also reported to be good with the in-laws cat but we haven't officially cat tested him yet. He loves to go for walks although he is a bit of a puller (comes in handy going up the hills!).
Ponyo is settling into his foster home but we can tell he really misses his family - we would love to find him a furever home before he bonds too much with his current foster mom and then has to go through the separation process again .
Ponyo was seen Nonantum Veterinary Clinic shortly after his arrival here and treated for a double ear yeast infection. He was VERY good for Dr Sharon while she put the medicine in his ears! His routine bloodwork looks great! His new family should keep in mind that these may be reoccurring infections, as there is a history of ear infections in his past vet records. Ponyo does have the beginnings of cataracts - we are using an over-the-counter eye drops and over-the-counter supplement, Ocuglo, to support his eye health. We also took home a little trazodone for his anxiety – of course he's upset after losing his family of many years, but he seems like he may have some separation anxiety. A half a tablet of trazodone helps when his foster mom has to step out. Next up is a trip to the groomer - it's a long wait so we are on the cancellation list! Ponyo's records say he is a Cocker Spaniel but we expect there is a little Doodle in there - making him a Cock-a-Doodle Interested families can apply at https://www.companimals.org/adoption-application/dog-adoption-application/
