My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ BENJI’S BIO IN DETAIL TO ENSURE THAT HE WILL BE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU AND YOUR LIFESTYLE BEORE APPLYING. PEASE NOTE: BENJI IS A DIRECT ADOPTION WHICH MEANS THE DOG COMES FROM THE SHELTER RIGHT TO YOUR HOME. ALL OUR DOGS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT~~

We at All Paws Matter believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. This is now a requirement in our adoption process. Proof of training classes for puppies specifically is required before adoption.

Benji was found on the side of the street in Mexico where we believe he was left for 3 days in rain attached with plastic, probably run over by a car and left to die. We can’t imagine how hard it was for him lying there unable to move with people passing him by. Finally some good samaritans sent pictures to our sister shelter in Mexico where they immediately picked him up and took care of him.

Benji had multiple fractures in both hips and surgery was performed. Sadly he also neurological damage in his left hind leg and it had to be amputated. Even without his leg he gets along extremely well and can run and play like any other dog. He does have scars from the tire tread when he was run over on the top of his head but they have healed well.

Benji is crate trained and since he does not mess in the shelter we believe his is house trained. He definitely needs work on leash as he can pull but training will help with this. Benji does have some resource guarding and feels he needs to protect his home and owners who he is very loyal to. He would be a great dog for someone who lives alone!!

His ideal home would be one with a securely fenced in yard whether it be rural or urban and he would require someone who is willing to keep him separate from visitors upon arrival until he gets to know them. Benji would love to be the only dog as he loves the attention of his owners but can live with female dogs only. No cats and children 12+

Benji would require training as he has never lived in a home and it would be very beneficial him with respect to manners and some of his resource guarding. All in all he is a loving good boy who deserves a home of his own after the trauma he has been through.

If you feel you would be the right fit for Benji, please fill out an adoption application at www.allpawsmatter.ca\

All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety.

NOTE: The above description is relevant to this dog in its current and previous setting. Home changes and adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim or suggest that our dogs are hypo-allergenic or that they shed/do not shed.

BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters. It is a guess only!
