Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Notes: 01-03-06 Mixed-breed dogs make excellent pets and lifelong friends. As a general rule, they enjoy better health and temperament than purebred animals. Unfortunately, a great number of these wonderful pets await their KILL DATE in shelters around the country. They are often not adopted because they are not a purebred dog. Thus, many are DESTROYED! The goal of the Mighty Mutt Youth Program is to change that by:
1. Locating kill shelter dogs that interact well with other animals and children
2. Rescuing these young dogs before they are killed and get them to the veterinarian
3. Uniting the right family with the right Mighty Mutt
4. Educating the young person and his/her family with guidelines for responsible pet ownership and proper preventative care for pets
(Note 01-07-06 We planned for Emily to be the 2nd dog in the Mighty Mutt Youth Program.
However, after visiting with Priscilla and Emily today, we agreed she is a wonderful mixed dog, just not a Mighty Mutt dog. There is a certain "look" that a "Mighty Mutt" must have and Emily does not quite possess that look.)
Jaxs (Happy Tails page) and Lexi (Adoptable page) are characteristic of the dogs in Priscilla's program.
We are, however, gearing the adoption of Emily toward a family with young children, wanting a first time pet.
Emily had a kill date in a pound, thus was saved due to her great disposition.
Emily rode very quietly in the vehicle in a pet taxi. Hardly knew she was on board.
Emily is about 1 yr. old, weighs 32 lbs., is H/W pos., has been vaccinated including Rabies and microchipped with Home Again by Dr. Jane. She will be spayed and treated for heartworms, then rest quietly for a minimum of 6 weeks.
Emily is the first of our rescue dogs to now have a spay tattoo. All females entering the rescue in the future will receive the tattoo. Extra protection!
We are taking inquiries during the recuperation time. Emily will be a spokesdog for dogs in the program, teaching children the importance of preventative medicines.
We will post updates on her condition as they become available.
Update 01-05-06 Just notified by Dr. Jane's office that Emily came through spaying and heartworm treatment fine. She should be ready to come to the Sanctuary tomorrow.
Update 01-06-06 Emily is now resting up from her treatment and spaying.
She will need a re-check in 2 weeks with Dr. Jane. She will then be placed on a heartworm preventative.
She will need retested for heartworms in a few months.
Update 01-18-06 Emily had her re-check with Doc Johnson. Her lungs sounded very clear, thus she has now been given her heartworm preventative.
She again rode very quietly in the vehicle in a pet taxi. Great little traveler. However, she does get sick if fed prior to travel. OOPS!
