My story

Toby is a one year (12 months) of age, male, German Shepherd dog! He is a beautiful Shepherd with an overall good temperament. He was adopted out as a three month old puppy and grew up around a lake. He loves to swim and is a water dog. He knows a few commands - "sit," "paw," which we can get him to do consistently. He was not trained with professional help and this dog would absolutely benefit from structured training to get a more attentive "focus". He has good forward motion on a leash, and is pretty good with listening to "pressure" of a slip lead. Toby would benefit from a family that will be home more often than not (which is the reason he was returned, his owner worked 48 hour shifts as a Fireman). He's an active dog (both mentally and physically), most Shepherds are, and would love an active family. He loves walks, hiking, anything that will use his brain and his legs. Toby has not grown up with children so we are looking for families with double digit ages if there are younger ones. We would like to see him go with an owner with Shepherd experience or someone familiar with the breed's characteristics. Toby did go to Doggy Daycare in his previous home and enjoyed his play days! He struggles with environmental changes and is not worldly so he would prefer stability in his life. He is a good dog who has the ability with training to turn into an exceptional dog!
