Hello there, I`m Nilla! I`m a 5yr old female DMH bobtail. I`ve got a heart full of love and a spirit that craves independence. I`m gentle to the core, but don`t mistake my softness for timidity. I`m not one to shy away from making my own decisions. I love exploring my surroundings, but I also enjoy the comfort of a warm lap. I`m friendly, always ready to meet new friends, be they human or feline. I`ve got a lot of love to give, and I`m looking for a forever home where I can share it. If you`re looking for a companion who`s equal parts loving and independent, I`m your girl! I do have a history of urinary tract infections and may need to be on a prescription food for the rest of my life. Prospective adopters with approved applications will be contacted to arrange a meeting.

Additional adoption info

Dogs and puppies are $150. Kittens and cats are $80. The adoption fee includes vet exam, first set of vaccines, microchipping, Feline Leukemia test for cats, Heartworm test for dogs. Also, includes rabies vaccine and spay/neuter at appropriate age. A completed and approved adoption application is required before meetings are arranged. The foster home is responsible for approving adoptions.

Adoption fairs are held monthly at PetSmart, Wilkesboro, NC.
Prospective adopters with approved applications will be contacted by the foster homes to arrange meetings.

There is a also a county-run shelter, which is not formally associated with the HSOW, but we pull fosters from there and do all we can to promote adoptions:

The Humane Society of Wilkes is an independent, 501(c)(3), volunteer organization dedicated to reducing the number of homeless, unwanted, and neglected companion animals in Wilkes County, NC. We support pet owners and prospective owners with programs that promote adoption and spay/neuter and services that provide information and resources to the community.

The Humane Society of Wilkes also works closely with Wilkes County Animal Services and local veterinarians to help prevent suffering and improve the quality of life for animals in Wilkes County.
