Ruby-aka-RHU is one unbelievably tame Scarlet Macaw! RHU is an unusually cuddly macaw with men only.
Rhu is very tame and loves to play. For the first 12 years Rhu was raised with a large family, who spoiled her as much as they possibly could. Now Rhu has turned 16 and she has matured.
We are only placing parrots with qualified adopters. Please read the qualifications to adopt this macaw.
Qualified adopters must be stable and within the age range of 30 to 65 years old to adopt Ruby. Most experienced adopters know that large parrots can live between 40 to 80 years, or longer with proper exercise, diet, and care.
We will only place parrots with homeowners that have a minimum of 1 year of large parrot experience.
We will not place parrots with anyone who shares a wall with their neighbor.
We prefer to place parrots in a home without any children present, for both the safety of the child and to prevent the parrot from bonding with the child and feeling lonely when the child leaves the home. *There are rare exceptions to this policy. If you have children with large parrots currently, then apply, and we will discuss the possibility to adopt.

Ruby has a hardy appetite and a very special diet of daily fresh veggies and fruit treats. She loves interaction and recently has become infatuated with a widescreen TV. She laughs on cue with punchlines, gets overexcited watching action movies, and sometimes talks to the actors.
Rhu has a small vocabulary of words so far, but we can tell she has the capability of learning more words and phrases with a little practice.

**We will only rehome Ruby within 100 miles of our zip code of 98684. Mandatory home visit prior to placement and at least one follow-up wellness check after placement for Ruby. She is a very special girl.
