Hello, my name is Nanuq. I am a shy but sweet Great Pyrenees. I weigh about 70 lbs and am 2 years old. Originally I’m from Arkansas, where I was left behind in a hog pen when my people moved. For a year, I dug my way out and lived as a stray in my rural neighborhood. I kept my distance and never hurt any livestock, cats, dogs, or people. One of the neighbors fed me but she moved away, and I was trapped and ended up in the shelter. I’m very shy with people, but am easy to handle and have never shown any aggression. I moved to Colorado in April, and have made good progress since then. I am house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. I’m calm and laid back. I only eat dry food, wet food is not my thing. I’m a very good boy looking for a very patient family who understands my needs! I’m not a good fit for families with little kids, since they scare me. I am great with cats, dogs, and patient people. I am looking for a home in a rural or mountain area with a fenced yard and at least one other dog. I love to get my nose in the fresh air, enjoy sunshine and snow, and go for walks, but I will never be an off-leash dog.
