Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Moxie is a three year old female who lived with a family her whole life, before being turned into a shelter at no fault of her own. She did get adopted, but unfortunately, after only a month in her new home, her new mom suffered a medical issue and could no longer keep her.
Moxie is becoming more comfortable and is blossoming into a happy little girl who loves to play with her canine foster brothers. He circumstances in life have understandably created feelings of insecurity, so she was a bit grouchy towards her canine foster brothers for the first few days. They have since become good friends. However, it should be assumed that she may need a little time to get comfortable around any new dogs in her new home. Her new family will need to be patient, giving appropriate corrections during introductions to other pups. Moxie may take several days to find her footing with another dog in the home, but once she warms up to them, she makes a wonderful, active playmate.
As with any beagle, Moxie is driven by her nose and needs a secure fence with supervision while outdoors to ensure she doesn’t dig under it or exploit other vulnerabilities to escape. She does love to bark at little critters when she sees them like a typical beagle. Moxie loves affection from her humans, soft treats, toys, chasing squirrels up trees, leash walks, naps, and window sitting where she is able to bask in the warmth of the sun while keeping an eye on the outside world.
She sleeps well in a crate at night, but would prefer to sleep in bed with her humans, if invited. She has not exhibited any inappropriate chewing in her foster home and doesn’t require a crate when her family is away from home (provided compatibility with other pups in the home is confirmed), though she will bark for a bit following everyone’s departure. Moxie is still working on house training, but most often is polite enough to seek out easily- sanitized surfaces such as a tile floor in a bathroom if she has an accident. She is pee-pad trained and will use one if available most of the time.
Moxie weighs 23lbs. and is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, HW negative, and now available for adoption.
