Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Dutch
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Age/Sex: 3yrs MN
Known Health Issues: Struggles with putting on weight. Currently on a specific raw food trial, and improving.
NO DOG PARKS
Dutch is a handsome young GSD who has had quite the medical journey. He arrived significantly underweight and undermuscled. However the cause eluded his former owner, and has been challenging for us to pin down as well. He has had extensive diagnostics, and everything has come back clear. He has been through many dietary trials, and is currently on a raw trial: Instinct. He is finally starting to improve, and needs an adopter that can continue to keep him on this diet ongoing.
Dutch is also a very anxious dog, which is likely contributing to his challenges. He is therefore looking for a pet free home, as he has trouble turning off, when other dogs are around. This is not a crate and rotate solution, it is a 'he deserves to have peace at home' issue. He is generally good with other dogs, so having structured meet ups with other dogs, or hiking with friends is not an issue. No cats for the same reason , as I do not have the opportunity to assess his stress level around them, and we don't want to set him up for failure. Barn cats that don't come inside the home could be discussed.
Dutch is good with all people. However I am searching for a home with older children, if present. Raw diet poses an extra risk for the very young (as well as the senior, and immunocompromised), and as much as we are careful, kids will get around a dogs face, could be licked, or get into the dogs dishes. Again, he also anxious, and lots of little busy bodies will add to his stress. We want a calm environment for him to be at home in.
Dutch is a very sweet boy, with excellent manners. He is good in his crate, and walks well on leash. He needs someone home through the day, or someone to let him out during the day, for bathroom relief. He enjoys running, walking, hiking, swimming, and more! He has his extra challenges, but is no less deserving. If you can give a dedicated, calm home environment to this wonderful boy, please message for an application.
