Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Missy Lou is looking for her furever!
Hello, everyone! My name is Missy-Lou, but my foster family fondly calls me "Chunk, or Chunkabutt." I am a suspected Jack Russell mix, and I will be 10 years old on 07/29/2023. My story changed back in March when my furever family could no longer keep me due to a long-term care placement (Nursing-Home). Unfortunately, when my foster family took me in, they found out I was heartworm positive, but do not let that deter you from taking me into your loving family. I am almost completely done with my treatments, and that is at no cost to the new family/person who adopts me.
Now, let me explain a little bit about me, so the best person/family can be furever blessed by my adoption!
I am a sassy lil' solid 18lb gal. I am very kibble/calorie motivated and would do best as a one dog household. I love other dogs, but I can be quite sassy as I attempt to eat another dog's food. I think all good in bowls is mine. I don't like to share food.
I do love to sit with my human, but I am just as content sitting alone and relaxing as well. I would not do well in a family with small children as I do have a tendency to give warning snaps if I am uncomfortable (I haven't bitten, or even made contact, but I am a dog, who had 15 teeth pulled recently). My current foster moms think I am adorable, especially when I get spunky and excited because I want to play, but they tell me to chill out for now because I am not supposed to get excited too much while I am being treated for Heartworms.
I really need a family who is ready to keep me furever, and is good with only one pup. I have to be leashed right now, even for potty breaks, due to the heartworm issue, but once I am cleared completely (should be by July 1st), I can go out in a fenced in yard unleashed! Woo hoo! I do enjoy going on walks, though, and will show excitement when I first see a leash/harness.
I am a great watchdog! I will bark when I hear something, especially a knock on the door or the chime of the doorbell. I do best if I can meet people already inside a house or building. I don't do well if they enter my space or my family's, and I don't know them well.
I will sleep all snuggled up in your bed or not, but I definitely prefer your bed to the floor, or dog bed. I will come with everything you need to get started as my new family, and I can't wait to meet you! Please, let's just do this! You deserve me, TRUST ME, I am adorably cantankerous and loving at the same time! Xoxoxoxo Chunk (Missy-Lou).🤎💜💙💛🩷
