Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Scooter, a sweet 8 year old, 12 lb. Yorkie boy being fostered in Central IA. Only applications within a 100 mile radius of Des Moines, IA will be considered.
Update 7/17 - Scooter is scheduled for his DHPP vaccine this coming Wednesday. This will bring him up and current with all required vaccines and complete his medical needs.
We have found that Scooter throughly enjoys his walks, so important that his adopter is also enjoys walking at least twice a day all year round. Scooter truly enjoys exploring in his foster's back yard, therefore a nice fenced yard, while not required would be very nice.
Foster mom is recommending no dog parks or social areas where larger dogs could pose a threat to re-injury of his repaired leg. He's a sweet dog with a gentle demeanor, and does well with his foster sisters and well behaved, no aggressive dogs near his size. Dogs that jump or high energy, could put Scooter at risk of reinjury.
Scooter loves everyone, men, women, and well behaved older children with expereince around prior dogs.
He's a big cuddler and will paw paw you to get attention, a treat, or to tell you he needs to go outside potty.
Scooter deserves to live the remainder of his life with an owner that is frequently at home. A work from home adopter, or active retired couple would be ideal.
He will also need to continue with his restricted diet to ensure he continues having success with his weigh loss.
Scooter's adopter should be prepared to carry him up and down stairs until he's fully recovered from his cruciate ligament and luxating patella surgery.
