Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi there, I’m Chopper and I am a 1-1/2 year old, 26 lb Corgi/Belgian Shepherd mix hailing from Laredo Texas. I was living life as a street dog, hanging out with bigger dogs, scars all over me, most likely from fighting for food or self-defense. It’s rough out there and I am short! It took my foster mom about a week to catch me, but once she did I was a marshmallow. Sweet and friendly, loveable and kissy, my scars have healed and my heart is overflowing with love and gratitude.
I am a friendly happy boy that loves humans, a bit cautious with strangers, but always a gentleman. I get along with other dogs, but I like a proper introduction and a couple of days to become playmates. I get along with other boy dogs, but definitely prefer girl doggy friends… I mean who can blame me?... I like the ladies, LOL. I’m really more of a people dog, I love human contact, hugs, and kisses, I’m very affectionate, and I will follow you everywhere. I’m not really into dog toys, and I don’t care for dog “cookies” but I LOVE meaty chewy dog treats. I am a medium-energy boy, not hyper and not lazy, I’m perfect. I’m not the barky type unless I need to alert you to strangers, and I LOVE to go for walks around the neighborhood. I am calm when I stay in my kennel and I never potty while I’m in there. I know how to use a doggy door and at night I sleep outdoors in my kennel or in a doggy room with lots of dog beds and a TV too. Yep, my life has certainly changed and it’s a relief to be off the streets. There is a rescue dog transport van leaving Texas soon and heading to Connecticut and the surrounding states. If you live in that area and you would like to make me yours, please fill out an application and before you know it we will meet in person, fall in love and the rest will be history!
* We receive an overwhelming amount of applications. If we do not respond immediately, it does not mean your application or inquiry is denied. The dog you have applied for may already be adopted or in the process of being adopted. We encourage you to send us an email with your #1, #2, and #3 choice, and we will be happy to help you find a pup to complete your family! Also, please continue watching our listings as we post new dogs multiple times a week. There is no need to fill out another application, just let us know what other dogs you are interested in as they come up.
