My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there gang,

My name is Drift. That is the coolest name ever!

My story is a tough one though....

There I was in the car with my owner have an awesome ride. It's always fun to ride in cars!! This ride however, not so much. You see, someone saw my car stop, a toy thrown out the door and I was told to fetch it. Fun right??? Negative ghost rider. As soon as I went to fetch the toy, my owner slammed the door shut and took off as fast as they could, leaving a trail of dust in their wake. Why would they do that to me?? I'm a good boy! I'm smart and fun loving and all I wanted to do was spend time with owner and play fetch and cuddle and this is what they did?? Why??? I was so confused and sad....

I have no idea why they wouldn't want me, with me being so dang cute and all...

The nice people that saw this horror unfold contacted Lucies. Angels!!!!

So here I am now at Lucies. What a shindig they got going on here!!! All these volunteers here playing with me and the other pups and teaching all kinds of neato things.

I know sit and fetch and am great with people. I aim to please!! I'm pretty good on crate and am leash trained as well.

I really crave human interaction, so the more attention I get the happier I am!!

I sure would love to meet you soon!!

*** We strive to ensure our dogs are going to a safe, loving and caring home. Phone interviews are required for all adoptions****

Additional adoption info

Interested adopters contact our adoption volunteer either via email or phone. Our volunteer in turn talks to them more about the pet they are interested in. If the adopter seems like a good match, they are requested to complete an application. They come to the rescue location to meet the dog of interest. We also sometimes arrange a home visit to make sure the environment is suitable for the dog. If all is well, they will get a call from a volunteer letting them know they are approved for adoption. They will be provided copies of the vaccination and sterilization records. A delivery day will be arranged for the dog. Either the adopter may come and pick up the dog, or a volunteer can arrange to have the dog delivered. They sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. We do periodically contact our adopters to check up on the dog to make sure everyone is happy and healthy and enjoying their new life!

More about this rescue

Local Unity for Canines In Emergency Situations. We are a dog rescue organization, not a shelter or a pound!

We are a group of neighbors who, as a community effort, are helping the many strays and dumped dogs in the area. We take them in, care for them, feed - vaccinate - worm - socialize, and try to find them forever homes. We do depend on donations to help out, and will accept food, medication, bedding, fostering, and direct donations to Veterinarians.
