My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bruno is a fun-loving, energetic dog who is ready to find a home where he can truly thrive! This sweet boy came to the shelter after a bite incident involving a small child who was bothering him while he was in his crate. Bruno can be anxious around loud noises, especially things like children crying, so he'd do best in a calm, quieter home. With an experienced owner, Bruno can be a wonderful companion-especially in a home with older children who can respect his boundaries and with proper supervision.

Bruno loves going for walks and is always up for a game of fetch. His playful, active nature makes him a great buddy for outdoor activities, and he'll happily run alongside you, tail wagging (with a cute curl that adds to his charm!). He has been through obedience training and is familiar with some basic commands, although he can be a little stubborn at times and may need an owner who is patient and consistent in guiding him.

Bruno can be sweet and affectionate, and while he doesn't always like to be corrected, he's made great strides in learning how to interact with others in a positive way. He's an intelligent and loving dog who just needs a family with experience to help him feel secure and confident.

If you're an experienced dog owner who can offer Bruno the structure and care he needs, he will reward you with loyalty, playfulness, and plenty of love. Come meet Bruno today-he's ready to be your best friend for life!

More about this shelter

Dogwood Animal Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill shelter.

Since its infancy, compassionate, like-minded volunteers have been the driving force behind Dogwood Animal Shelter. Through auctions and sales, a handful of dedicated people raised enough money to build its first, albeit small facility and was established as a 501(c) 3 in 1976. It was filled beyond capacity almost immediately.

The shelter is funded entirely from donations and proceeds from their Dogwood Animal Shelter Thrift Store.

After years of saving, planning and busting at the seams with fur-babies, in 2005 it was time to build a new facility with their own in-house clinic! Under the direction of Dr. John Reinhold and coupled with a very dedicated and gifted team of Veterinarians and staff, Dogwood Animal Shelter continues to offer low cost spays and neuters to the public as well as services to their shelter buddies; services to approximately 2,000 dogs and cats yearly!

Dogwood Animal Shelter began their journey of being a successful no-kill shelter in 1997, and since then has saved over 40,000 lives!
