Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Gabby, a 2-year-old Plott Hound mix who is eagerly searching for a loving and understanding forever home. Gabby is an absolute sweetheart. This precious girl was originally found by animal control as a stray, so not much is known about her up until that point. However, we were all quickly won over by her loving nature. She is an incredibly affectionate girl, who craves attention and thrives on companionship. It should be noted that Gabby's journey has been marked by challenges, as she was born with a few birth defects: a slight deformity in her hind legs, limited vision on her right side, and some cognitive dysfunction. It's not that she is untrainable- she can absolutely learn new skills. It just takes her a bit longer to catch on. Gabby is partially housetrained and with a regular routine, we believe she can become fully housetrained. She gets along with most other dogs, but isn't fond of puppies jumping on her. That being said, her resilience and ability to adapt are truly remarkable. Despite these obstacles, Gabby has a desire to be loved and cared for. She needs a calm and structured home, where she can feel safe and secure. Gabby would thrive in a home where she is taken for walks and receives cuddles. Best of all is witnessing Gabby doing her zoomies in our play yard! Primary Color: Brindle Weight: 68 Age: 3yrs 3mths 0wks

More about this shelter
Dogwood Animal Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill shelter.
Since its infancy, compassionate, like-minded volunteers have been the driving force behind Dogwood Animal Shelter. Through auctions and sales, a handful of dedicated people raised enough money to build its first, albeit small facility and was established as a 501(c) 3 in 1976. It was filled beyond capacity almost immediately.
The shelter is funded entirely from donations and proceeds from their Dogwood Animal Shelter Thrift Store.
After years of saving, planning and busting at the seams with fur-babies, in 2005 it was time to build a new facility with their own in-house clinic! Under the direction of Dr. John Reinhold and coupled with a very dedicated and gifted team of Veterinarians and staff, Dogwood Animal Shelter continues to offer low cost spays and neuters to the public as well as services to their shelter buddies; services to approximately 2,000 dogs and cats yearly!
Dogwood Animal Shelter began their journey of being a successful no-kill shelter in 1997, and since then has saved over 40,000 lives!
