Howie is a young, energetic doxie mix looking for a good home and family to give him the time and attention he needs. He is a complex dog that can be independent, happy to spend time by himself inside and run/sniff around outside. It’s especially funny and cute when he runs around outside in circles without a leash on! However, he also loves to be included in family affairs and will follow you around. Howie adores cuddling and will ask you for pets and loving when he wants it. Unfortunately, Howie has a lot of anxiety and fears that need to be considered. He was very protective in his previous home and was not good with visitors who came into the house, barking and lunging for a while before settling down. Howie also is not a big fan of other doggy friends and should probably be the only dog in any home. Additionally, Howie is only compatible with adults in the house. He really doesn’t like dog hygiene activities like nail trimming, bathing, and brushing. When left alone, the poor guy gets scared and his anxiety comes out. Ultimately, when in the right context, Howie is happy and well-behaved. He would certainly benefit from some intentional training as he continues to mature.
