My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How handsome is Koda??? Have a lot of land?! Are you looking for a pup to roam it and keep away those pesky squirrels?! Koda is the boy you’ve been looking for!

Born July ‘22, Koda is such a people pleasing pup!
Koda is friendly with all female dogs, but can be a bully with male dogs. He’s never hurt another dog, but will pester them or try and dominate them. Not mean or aggressive, just kind of a bully. Also, NO CATS for Koda.

Koda LOVES people and is extremely smart. He learns tricks within minutes, he knows sit, stay, lay down, turn around, and paw. He’s also crate and leash trained! However, he is stubborn and does what he wants when he wants.

Sadly, the people who originally had him kept him in a crate 24/7 for the first year of his life. So, he is not house broken. We tried for a year to work on house training him, with no luck. He would do great as an outdoor/indoor dog where he can play outside, but come in for crate time and when he gets hots. Koda LOVES the cold, the colder the better for this furry friend!

If it sounds like Koda could be a good fit for your family and you want to give this deserving dog his best forever life, fill out an application on our website https://www.tailsoftheforgottenpaws.org/ or find us on FB to reach out with questions.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

We do thorough legal background checks and call all references, landlords etc. Do not leave anything blank or we cannot process your app.

2.

Interview

We discuss the adoption and at this time answer any questions applicants may have

3.

Approve Application

If all checked out we then send approvals via email and adopters then can reserve with a deposit or set up a meet in greet if applicable.

4.

Sign Adoption Contract

We have a legally binding contract that must be signed before you can take your fur kid home.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is fairly simple as long as apps are filled out correctly and fully and all checks out. We do screen with a background check program and call vet references and personal references. If any of this is left blank we cannot and will not process applications. Meet and greets are set up after an applicant is approved. At that time if they wish to adopt then we have a legally binding contract that must be signed prior to taking pet home.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Meets are available with an approved application, then this is set up. We have adoption events twice a month in Illinois, Elgin area, and this is always advertised in advance on our fb page. We do not do open adoptions so if attending our events with intentions to adopt please have your application put in prior to each event. People are welcome always to come hold and meet some of the dogs and puppies :)
