My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~Foster to Adopt~
Hello Wonderful People,

My name is Pica but my friends call me `Pica Boo!`

As you can see, I`m a gorgeous black gal with beautiful green speckled eyes. When you open my kennel door, I will pop my head out of my hidey bed and then as you pet my cheeks, chin and between my ears (which I LOVE), I will follow your touch and come towards you. This is when my friends say, `Pica Boo, I see you!`

I was returned to MaxFund because my former guardian no longer wanted to pay for my one medication. This made me very confused and sad as I thought we were such a great match. Then I found myself in a new place (MaxFund) with many new neighbors, smells and sounds-- I was so scared. However, I am an optimist and have made the very best of being here. And happily, since being at MaxFund, I am no longer on any medications! I do eat a specific type of food to ensure I don`t develop any urinary issues (I have none). I like this diet just fine and it is not expensive. But... I am still a little shy. I venture out of my kennel for people who are kind, gentle, and patient with me....are you one of those people? I promise to repay you with purrs and nuzzles and life-long cuddles.

At 10 years old, I truly am a middle-aged sweetie. I know cats age faster than humans BUT cats are also living longer these days so I`m sticking with calling myself middle-aged. I`m an easy-going, relaxed, calm girl. I just need a home that is similarly relaxed and quiet with no young children or dogs, please. I prefer to be an only cat. At the shelter I have not enjoyed being around other cats, however I`ve been here over a year (very sad) and it`s too much being in close proximity to other cats for so long. I MIGHT get along with an older, relaxed cat in a home with lots of space and safe spots for me.

Won`t you please come meet me? I`ll be waiting for you!
Love, Pica Boo

More about this shelter

The MaxFund is a non-profit organization that was established in May of 1988 to provide medical care for injured pets with no known owners, and to seek out new homes for these animals once they have recovered. The MaxFund is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. MaxFund assists hundreds of people and animals each year by trying to make the correct match between owner and pet. MaxFund adopts our animals to Colorado residents only.

The MaxFund is a TRUE no-kill shelter. There is no pre-sorting of animals into "adoptable" and "non-adoptable" categories, discarding the so-called "unadoptable." The MaxFund takes every animal it has the space for. EVERY animal is kept until its owner is found or it is placed in a new adoptive home.
