Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Alaska
Nicknames: Allie. Crazy Lady. Sweet Baby.
Breed: Heeler/Shepherd mix
Sex: Female
Age: 4 months
Current Weight: 26 lbs.
Before OMD: She and her siblings were born in an oilfield. Mom and puppies were all rescued and Alaska was transferred to OMD (in a CT foster home) from a Southern rescue partner.
Energy Level: Medium-High. She's not totallllly insane, but sometimes we do wonder how a 5-minute recharge begets a 2-hour play sesh.
Affection level: Also medium-high. Just make sure she gets her playtime and zoomies first!
What we love most: She’s incredibly smart. Her undecided ears. Her love for other dogs. The way she dramatically plops herself on the floor or couch when she’s exhausted. Her zoomies style — laps around the living room, grab a toy, drop it, grab another, drop, then another and another, then jump over foster mom, foster dad, foster sibling, and then her infamous floor plop.
What she loves most: Other dogs. Toys. Food. Play...she'll play with anything not bolted down.
Working on: Calming her inner jumping bean.
Kids: Loves kids and lights up when she sees them, but would do best with sturdier, dog-savvy kids as she would absolutely knock a smaller kiddo over.
Dogs: Big yes! She would love to have a dog-sibling. She would be best suited with a playful, tolerant, non-reactive pup as she doesn't quite understand boundaries and social cues yet.
Cats: Has briefly lived with cats and paid them no mind.
House-trained: Work in progress, but has done very well when on a schedule.
Crate-trained: Getting there!
Alaska is vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of Connecticut and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org
