Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rocky is a sweet yorkie boy weighing just 4 pounds. He is 9 years old and is being fostered in Riverview, FL.
Updated bio 5/18/23: Rocky is ready for adoption! He had his teeth & ear checkup, which he passed with flying colors. Rocky still needs to gain some weight. The vet estimates a healthy weight for him is 4.5#. Right now he is a little over 3.5#.
Rocky is eating much better. He will eat only a little bit of dry kibble or wet food from his plate. He hates bowls. He prefers to eat from your hand or have it dropped on the ground in front of him. He is still getting syringe fed 2x a day with liquid food due to not eating fully on his own. His foster mom has been trying to get him to eat on his own, but it's a work in progress. Being tiny, he needs to go out frequently during the day. Sometimes he will use the potty pad.
Rocky loves to sleep in. He is definitely a velcro dog- not high energy. He is always following a member of his foster family, sitting on their lap, or lying next to them curled up in a ball.
He is a chill dog and does tend to bark at strangers sometimes. Rocky loves his squeaky toys. He gets along wonderfully with his foster brother, but has growled and snapped at dogs when on walks.
Rocky didn't know to be affectionate when he first got to his foster home. Now he will give kisses and paw at you to pet him. He loves snuggling!
His foster mom had to trim his face hair super short after the dental, but it is starting to grow back, and hair is coming in on his ears.
His foster mom has a few requirements for his forever home:
-fenced in yard is not required
-if there is another dog in the home, there must be a meet and greet with the other pet as well.
-someone who is home the majority of the time due to him having to go potty frequently and needing to be hand fed at times.
-a stay at home parent, work from home or retired person is ideal for Rocky's forever home
-adoptive family is required to have a dental in 3 months to remove 2 more additional teeth that need to come out.
Bio:Rocky is approximately 8-9 years old and came to UYR as an owner surrender. He is currently underweight and has had many health issues to overcome. He is only 3.6 pounds! He came to us with feces caked in his hair as well as chunks of matted hair all over. Rocky has recently had his dental and is working on eating well again and gaining weight. Rocky is a snuggler who loves to look out the window. He is a fan of small rubber squeaky toys. Rocky is a great leash walker.
Requirements for Rocky's forever home:
* He will need a home where there is someone home to frequently let him out.
* He will need an additional 2 teeth removed within the next 3 to 6 months. The adopter will have to sign an addendum that they will cover this.
* He can still be skittish towards people at times. So Rocky will need someone to be patient with him.
