BESSIE UPDATE!! Look at our girl go!? From sick and defeated to happy and on the go!!! When we took Bessie in she didn’t even want to stand. We truly questioned euthanizing because it seemed her quality of life wasn’t there but we never let go without a fight and boy are we glad we fought for this girl. In a months time, she has made a heck of a transformation. From not walking at all, to being on all 4 and even at times 2, not just walking but running all over the place. Her tail never stops. She’s truly enjoying life and soaking it all in. She adores her foster mom and her foster mom says Bessie is the best girl. Her hair is growing in slowly and she truly is looking and feeling amazing these days! Bessie is around 10 years old or so and is a beagle but possibly a mix. She weighs 20-25 lbs. She’s mellow, calm and the sweetest thing. She’s great with all size dogs, cats and kids. She loves to lounge around and she loves a good treat. She’s great indoors and is the perfect girl for just about anyone. Bessie is fully vetted and altered!! Huge thanks to her amazing foster mom for the tlc she has shown Bessie!!
Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.
All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!
Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up.
Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. We also have full-time jobs and Families. We will try to answer all questions and applications in a timely manner. Please be patient and bear with us . Do not contact any of the vet clinics we work with, as they are a vet clinic and can not answer questions on behalf of Wags and Whiskers. All questions and comments must go directly through the rescue. Thank you for your understanding.
