Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cato is a 10 year old very friendly boy who loves attention and is constantly looking to be petted. He was named after a book character and is one of those few cats that actually comes to his name when he is called. Check out his very cute white mittens and scarf.
When the house is quiet at the end of the day, he will gladly come join you on the couch to sit with you or on your lap if it is open. Cato is a generally quiet cat but he can be a talker when he thinks his food dish is getting too low or if he misses you and wants attention. He will also enjoy sleeping with his family if they allow him to.
Cato usually hides when visitors come but after about a half hour, he will probably come out to see what action is happening. He is very playful and particularly enjoys pushing small toys around. Cato does great with the 3.5 year old in his previous home so as long as children in his new home are respectful, he would be a good companion for a family. He will also do well with a home of only adults as long as he gets the attention he craves.
He lived with another cat for a short time when he was younger and did fine after about a month of adjustment. However, he’s been an only cat for several years so it’s an unknown as to how he will do in a home with other cats now. He did well with a dog in his previous home – they mostly ignored each other but sometimes would cuddle together with their previous mom.
Cato wears a stylish calming collar that helps him keep from grooming excessively and helps him not be skittish around loud noises. His grooming sometimes results in a few hairballs each week. It is possible that a different diet could help with his excessive grooming and hairballs as well. The calming collar seems to work for about 6 months for him before needing to be replaced.
His previous mom described Cato as one of the most cuddly cats she has ever had and said that he is just as playful as he was when he was a young kitten. The only reason he needs to find a new home is due to allergies that have recently gotten worse for a family member. Cato does not like to be picked up but he definitely enjoys being petted and loves cuddling with his family members.
