Due to factors beyond our control, transport costs for our Puppy Mill survivors are much higher than what we have been accustomed to - costs for health certificates and medical + transport for each dog with no allowances for shared crates. With these factors taken into account, as well as the care needs for all of the animals in our adoption program, we need to request a donation above our normal request. Depending which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a donation in the range of $450- $850 from each adopter. $250 of that donation will be used toward the cost of transport. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

Home Recommendation: Testudo would love to go to an active family who can play with him! He enjoys having doggy friends and would benefit from having a fenced in backyard to run around in!

Personality: Testudo is the life of the party! He is a firecracker that lights up every room he enters. He is a fun-loving dog and enjoys being wherever the action is! His favorite activities include playing chase in the yard, finding new places to explore, and giving kisses!! He is a sweetheart and loves to be held. He will melt in your arms! He loves everyone he meets and his big personality will bring a smile to your face!

Crate Trained: Working on it!

House Trained: Working on it! He will go to the bathroom outside but may have an occasional accident in the house.

Training: He has never been on a leash prior to being in foster home. He is practicing everyday and getting ready to strut his stuff! He also is learning how to go up and down stairs.

Why did he come to WISE? Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Testudo were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
