Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Remember Blaize? He's been a big part of the Claws & Paws Animal Adoption Center family for a very long time, and is still waiting for his forever home!
Blaize is a two-year-old Border Collie x Lab mix who has been waiting his whole life for a family to call his own. Dumped as a tiny 10-week-old puppy and never claimed, he grew up in a kennel, which can be debilitating for any dog. But despite it all, Blaize has kept his bright, happy personality. He may be a little shy at first, but give him a moment, and he’ll be your best friend.
✨ The Longest Resident, But Not for Long!
Blaize is the longest-term resident at Claws and Paws. He has watched countless other dogs get adopted, but we just know his turn is coming. This incredible boy just needs someone to see him for the loyal, loving companion he is.
Since starting his board-and-train program with Comeback K9 at the beginning of the month, Blaize has blown us away with his progress. He’s playful, affectionate, and bonds deeply with his people. Because he spent his early life in a kennel, he missed out on critical socialization and foundational skills. More than anything, he never really got to learn how to be a dog.
But in just three weeks, he’s made huge progress:
✔ Kennel trained – He’s rocking it!
✔ House training – Two weeks accident-free!
✔ Basic obedience – Knows commands and keeps improving.
✔ Place training & stay with distance – A solid start!
✔ Confidence building – He’s learning to trust the world.
✔ E-collar conditioning & recall – He’s responsive and eager to learn.
✔ Pack therapy – Learning to communicate with other dogs.
✨ What About Other Dogs & Cats?
At first, it was a concern Blaize wasn’t good with other dogs, but it turns out—he didn’t understand social cues! With the help of some wonderful mentor dogs, he’s learned how to play appropriately and has made so many new friends, both big and small. He’s even done well with cats!
We have worked on some mild resource guarding, and he’s incredibly responsive to a simple “No.” In a multi-dog household, this behavior is easily managed by picking up toys when not in use and feeding separately.
✨ Why Blaize is So Special
Blaize is so ready for a home of his own. He’s loyal, eager to please, and full of love. He just needs someone willing to give him the chance he’s been waiting for. He’s been working so hard this past month—could you be the one to make his dream come true?
🐾 Free Training Support for Life!
As part of Blaize’s adoption, you’ll receive lifetime training support through Comeback K9. Whether you need help maintaining his structure, refining obedience, or managing his energy, we’re here for you—because once a Comeback K9, always a Comeback K9!
🎓Blaize has even had an entire obedience class donated in his name, so you and Blaize can experience the joy of learning and bonding together.
Let’s find this incredible boy the home he deserves! 💙🐶
