My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Memorial: In Loving Memory -July 15, 2023. RIP sweet girl, you were loved.

Honey had her Lifesaving Surgery on June 20th and was on a path of recovery. We were working with our vet to get her Cushings medication under control. This dog came to us in pretty bad shape. Your kindness to help with her vet costs was greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, she lost all hope to make a full recovery when she started feeling out of sorts and then started having uncontrollable seizures. We rushed her to our vet where the seizures continued, one right after another and they couldn't get them controlled. We felt helpless and heartbroken with no hope in sight of saving her life. It finally came down to making the decision no one wants to ever make and had to let her go so she wouldn't suffer.

Meet Honey, an older cocker girl from an owner who no longer wanted her. She never had much love or attention and was mostly kept outside. Our vet says she is probably 12 or 13 years old. Bloodwork was done showing early kidney disease, but no meds needed yet. She had to have teeth removed, growths behind her ears and a tumor removed. Each health issue has been addressed and was expensive, plus her surgery on June 20th which was quite costly but necessary to keep her healthy. She does have Cushing's disease. We were going through testing to determine proper medicine needs. She was currently on a medicine that was not real expensive and was helping. The plus side was that she tested as heartworm negative and no tick disease. This little lady deserved a home with someone to help her enjoy the senior years for however long she had, possibly 3 years, not sure.

Honey had learned how to be an inside dog and had done somewhat okay with house training as long as she was put outside often. She came to us quite confused but was better and just needed your patience with house training after only knowing life outside in a backyard. With us, she was a happy, very sweet girl and enjoyed lots of love and attention. She liked being a cared for dog. Your kindness to give a gift to CCR in Memory of Honey will help us to pay the vet needs of those still in our care and waiting for their forever homes. Please donate to CCR as shown above. Any amount in her memory will help care for our dogs still needing homes.
