Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Stella is a 1-2 year old Plot hound mix. She is a very sweet girl that is very timid and just needs time to warm up to you. She was a stray found with her two brothers. They were picked up and taken to county then eventually put on the e-list. Luckily we were able to save them and get them to a foster. After some time we thought Stella would do better away from her brothers who protected her but didn't really allow her to get the attention she needed. She enjoys playing with other dogs and is the definition of a dog's dog! Right now, she lives with three other dogs bigger than her, and she runs and plays with them often. She's very wary of people she does not know and while she's getting to know her human, being around the other dogs makes her feel safe. She is very treat motivated and her favorites are hotdogs, cheese or when her foster mom drops crummies on the floor for her to eat. When Stella first came to her current foster, she wouldn't let her pet her. She wasn't aggressive. She was just scared and would run away or go shake in a corner. If she was able to get outside, there was no getting her back in without feeling like you were chasing her. If you were able to get close enough to pick her up, she would cry then go stiff because she was so scared and didn't know what to do. It broke her foster mom's heart seeing her so terrified of humans. So every day she would spend time with Stella on the floor nearby, even if she wouldn't let her get too close. She would toss some treats and talk to her until eventually she started taking treats from her hand. And then she noticed she would come up and nudge her for attention! Although, she is still a nervous girl and doesn't feel quite comfortable with all the pets and snuggles her current human wants to give her to show her she is loved, she has made so much progress over the past several weeks. She will now come into a room and nap nearby where her foster mom is. Where as before, she would just hide in her kennel or stay outside away from everyone. She comes inside on her own and will go in her crate instead of running away when it was time for her human to leave. She feels comfortable enough to even come into her foster moms room and take a sock or two! We don't say all the negative to keep you from wanting to adopt this girl. We say it so you can see all the progress she has made in a few weeks and to show you that it can continue that way with the right family willing to be patient and give her the loving forever home she deserves!! https://forms.gle/nWfk7kEuAQgis6Vf8
