My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zoya the Destroya is ready to find her furrever human! Intelligent, loyal, devoted, and a little sprinkle of sass – we think Zoya is pretty incredible and we think you will too.

When Zoya first arrived into our care she had 6 little ladies to care for. Even after her kittens found their own homes, Zoya maintained a maternal instinct and nurtured many other fosters she got to meet before moving into the rescue. We think she can happily live with other respectful cats because of that. As a former street cat, Zoya learned to put her defenses up to remain safe. It took some time before she let her guard down and she now welcomes pets from both her old friends and new friends! She especially appreciates those new friends that can provide her yummy treats and are respectful of boundaries as she can still get a little pawsy if you move too fast or unexpectedly.

To be loved by Zoya is to know incredible loyalty. She remembers those who take the time to build a connection with her and it’s remarkable to see. She loves hard! While she will probably always retain a sense of being on guard, we think Zoya has made some great strides and has gotten herself ready for her own family. Expect to be greeted by Zoya anytime you come home and to be followed around. She’s a bit of a shadow cat. While she enjoys perching up on her favorite cat tree, she also enjoys playing with a wand toy. Her future humans need to be sure they can create a playtime routine to keep Zoya happy and entertained, we told you she’s smart! In the past few months she has gradually become more and more comfortable spending time on laps which has been a treat to see. So while we know she has plenty more growing to do, her future people should be aware that she’s not the type of kitty that will probably enjoy being picked up which is a very normal cat preference!
