My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shayna, oh Shayna. Singing in the rain-a. Shayna’s story begins as so many others at Catvando. Young, friendly cat who had a family, the owner moves, and leaves the cat outside on the front porch, due to no fault of her own. Shayna misses having her family.! Luckily Catvando heard her singing and rescued her. She is friendly as can be and loves people. She loves to sit in windows and has perfect litter box habits.

What’s her pet peeve? Shayna has FOMO :) (fear of missing out). If she feels like she’s not gotten her hourly attention & love quota, she’ll remind you!

Shayna isn’t the biggest fan of other cats, but with enough space, she could likely co-exist with a feline roommate. Her black and white decor goes with everything. She’s ready for a home that won’t move and leave her again.

To meet Shayna, all you have to do is apply!

Additional adoption info

1. Fill out an application

2. Face to face Interview, and meet with the cat/kitten

Part of our adoption process requires observing all family members interaction, especially children.

We always adopt bonded pairs, but single cats are sometimes available. Adoption fees vary, but are usually:

$300 for a bonded pair of kittens
$175 for a single kitten (rare to adopt singles)
$125 Adults 1-5 years old
$100 Adults 6-10 yrs oldest
$75 11+

Depending on the situation, we may also need to carry out a home visit, and help with transportation and introduction of the cat to it's new surroundings.

Follow-ups are part of the normal process.

More about this rescue

Our primary mission is to prevent kittens through a Trap Neuter Return (TNR) program. However, sometimes we get Trap Neuter Adoption (TNA’s). When shelters are full, we foster, socialize and vet the kittens. This part of our program also involves local youths in the care of kittens in addition to our TNR efforts.

While in our system, kittens are fed a good quality Grain-Free Kibble and care is taken to assure their long and healthy life to the extent possible. We supplement for specific issues i.e. Pro-biotics, EFA's, immune boosters and sometimes digestive enzymes.. Many are exposed to dogs and are comfortable with them. They’ve been exposed to many wonderful volunteers of all ages.

When possible we capture the mama with the litter to assure their fuller development. Many times we keep them together for 9-12 weeks. Our adoption fee covers spay neuter surgery, FVRCP & Rabies vaccinations, parasite, ear mite & flea treatment when necessary, and a micro chip. And some of them have a small ear tip—just a reminder that you’ve given a cat a home that could have otherwise had to fend for itself, on the streets.

Our adopted cats and kittens are welcome back for the duration of their life in the event the adoption doesn’t work out, or if it becomes impossible for you to keep the cat. We’re always available for consultation about behavior, health, or referrals to assistance beyond our scope.
