Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello there! My name is Esther, and I am smart, gentle, loving, and I still show my playful puppy side even though I'm almost 9 years old.
I love walks, playing with my tennis ball, and pets (oh, the pets, give them all to me!). On walks I do not pull, and I'm especially excited to go out and about in my doggie vest! I am housebroken and always ask nicely if I need to go outside - I haven't used a doggie door yet, but I'm very quick to learn new things so that shouldn't be a problem for me. I am not destructive when left alone, and am pleased to greet you when you return (with the opportunity to give me more pets).
I might bond quickly to one person and look to them for comfort - it may take me a little bit longer to fully trust other humans but I adjust well with time and patience. I will probably fit best in a home with other calm dogs ... I've really enjoyed my time with my foster brother and I am always gentle and give him plenty of space when he needs it. I haven't been around cats, so I don't know what I would think of them. I would do best with older kids who understand how to be patient and give me space to warm up and build trust.
My owner and I lived alone and were very isolated from other people and animals - he is no longer able to care for me due to medical issues, so I am learning how to trust other people every day. I may bark at strangers who enter the house, but I'm never aggressive - I just need to get used to new people in my space.
