More about this rescue

In July,2015 Jenkins County K-9-1-1 Rescue, Inc. was established. We spent the next 3 months getting certified with the State of Georgia, Georgia Department of Agriculture and applying for our 501 (c)(3) tax exempt status. It was a lot of work and money, but we did it.
We kept dogs at our houses until January,2017 when the County let us move to our current location out near the airport. We got used kennels and whatever we could to keep our dogs in. We invest a lot of blood, sweat, tears and money to get shelters built. We 4now have a shelter with kennels for 14 adult dogs, a shelter with (4) 10 x 20 kennels for puppies and the house has 4 rooms for smaller dogs and for other ones that are recuperating from surgery.
We have rescued close to 800 dogs in the years we have been doing this. Most of our rescues are transported to a facility in Aiken, SC where they are vetted, spayed/neutered, and then sent on to New Jersey to be adopted. We work with a great group of people who have helped us tremendously in finding homes for our fur babies.
We have some dogs that have been with us for several years that have not found a home yet. Most are pit bull mixes and a lot of rescues will not take them. We keep trying to find a rescue that will take them, until then we keep them happy.
Our mission is to rescue the stray (dumped), abandoned, abused and owner surrender dogs and to find a home for them. When we get dogs in, we give them a shot, worming medicine and anything else we see that they might need. We also get some dogs in that are injured and need immediate medical attention. This is very costly to us. An example is the hound we recently picked up had a tumor the size of an orange on her back. It had burst and was gapping open and we had to take her to the vet to have surgery. It cost us over $700.00 to get this done. We have had to pay for several surgeries out of our own pockets because we did not have the money in our account to cover the cost.
Faye White and Sandra Sherrod are the 2 directors of JC K911. We have 1 volunteer, Delane Davis, that comes on Saturdays and helps. We definitely need more help during the morning hours when all the dogs are feed, exercised and pens cleaned and washed down. Donations are always welcome, whether it is monetary, dog food, cleaning supplies or whatever, we appreciate whatever we can get.
