My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Est DOB 10/10/2020

Current weight ~ 75 lbs

Blind

$350 adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, rabies and other vaccinations, heartworm test, deworming, and heartworm and flea preventatives while the dog is in our care.

Murdock is such a sweet boy. Unfortunately he was dealt a lousy hand early in his life. Murdock is blind, and when his owner no longer wanted him, he threw him out on the street. Not only that, but he also told neighbors to shoot poor Murdock if he “bothered them”. Luckily, Murdock had an angel on his side. A neighbor reached out to our rescue and one of our volunteers/fosters went to scoop him right up! Murdock may be blind, but he doesn’t let that get him down. Once he maps out your house, he will get around so we’ll that you will forget he is blind! He LOVES going on walks around the neighborhood and at the park. He knows “follow” and is learning other useful cues for walks. Murdock is a huge cuddle bug. He loves to be pet and loved on. He loves other dogs, but can play rough, so that’s something to keep in mind! He also cannot eat with other dogs. However, after his meal, he enjoys going into the yard with them! He does have crate anxiety and cannot be crated. He also does not like small spaces. In his foster home, he is given free roam. He IS house trained and is trusted not to do bad dog things while his foster mommy/daddy are at work! Murdock will require a special home who understands his disabilities and will work with him!

Go meet their pets

Meet our adoptable pets most weekends at one of the locations below. If there's a specific pet you're coming to see, please email (MuttsAndMeows@Mail.com) the day before or call the store DURING ADOPTION TIMES ONLY and ask to speak to a volunteer. Please do not call the store outside of our regular adoption hours. The pets live in foster homes during the week so the store employees do not know which pets will be there that weekend.

Adoption days vary now since Covid.

More about this rescue

Mutts & Meows Rescue is a private rescue headquartered near Sugar Land (in the southwestern suburbs of Houston). We work closely with other rescues as well as the Animal Control Departments of various municipalities in the Houston area to place dogs and cats in loving, permanent homes. Our pets live with foster families, so we know them well enough to make a good match between people and pets. Our adoption fees - include spaying/neutering, vaccinations, FEV/FELV tests for cats, and heartworm tests for dogs that are old enough.
