Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Maui, a very active and outgoing young (1 -2 years) male Australian Shepherd (Mini). He weighs about 30 lbs. and is a beautiful black tri-color.
Maui was an owner surrender due to a life change. This little guy has a ton of energy, even for an Aussie. He plays with other dogs, but prefers ones his own size. Maui has not be tested with cats. Maui is not much of a cuddler, but does like attention from his fosters, usually in short spurts. He is definitely not a couch potato!
Maui is kennel trained and house trained. He is somewhat vocal, especially during play (which, if he had his way would be 23 hours a day). Just like most other Aussies, Maui is very bright and eager to learn new things. He will need lots of physical activity to keep his energy at bay.
If you are looking for a very active and enthusiastic young Aussie, but find that most are too big, this boy is perfect for you. Maui can hike as far as you want and probably still want to go a little more. He also loves the water hose and will willingly stick his head underwater to find the nozzle. He hasn't been to a lake yet, but we can imagine that he would just love it. Due to his energy level, he should not go to a home with young children (under 10ish). Maui can be an only dog, but be ready for you being his only energy outlet. He is currently in Tucson, AZ.
Maui was diagnosed with Valley Fever and is currently on medication to treat that. If he sounds perfect for your family, please fill out our application:
