My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Trinity is loyal to a fault...she`s the definition of a velcro dog. If you`re looking for a faithful companion who eagerly follows wherever you go, she`s your girl. She builds trust with people over time and once you create a bond with her, she`s the most loving and attentive dog.

Trinity is one smart cookie...she has a repertoire of tricks and is always up for acquiring more. She loves treats and is easily motivated to learn! She also loves stuffed toys (preferably the ones that squeak) and will carry them around in her mouth. She`ll occasionally play fetch if she`s feeling extra athletic and you don`t have to worry about her tearing apart any toys or furniture because she`s very housetrained and nondestructive.

She does amazing on walks and likes to take her time and observe her surroundings. She doesn`t chase after squirrels, birds, rabbits, lizards, etc. She prefers to stick closeby to her handler and checks in frequently. She`s interested in meeting other dogs in passing but has learned to sit and wait patiently for them to approach. She has varied levels of experience with different dogs and would be a good co-exister to a calm dog. Unfortunately feline friends are a little too exciting for her and she`s wary of children and needs time and training to overcome her fears.

For the past 8 months, she`s had the advantage of living in a comfortable and caring foster home while her shelter stress melts away. She`s graduated from being a shy and fearful dog and is learning how to be more confident every day. She enjoys cuddling on the couch as much as hitting the trail. She loves the water and is an excellent swimmer! Her previous owner took her paddleboarding and she`s had some adventures in ponds and pools.

Did I mention this girl is gorgeous and has perfect eyeliner? Beautiful, smart, loyal, sweet, curious...these are just a few of her attributes. She`s ready for her forever home! Could it be with you?

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
