My story

Monte is a Yorkie Mix boy weighing 12.8 pounds. He is 8 years old and is being fostered in Vero Beach, FL.

Monte has celebrated a birthday this past month and he is nine years old. His weight is 12.2 lbs. It seems we have found the right food along with the proper amount of exercise and activity to help Monte be a happy dog. He is not taking trazadone at this time, just a calming chew or cbd oil in the evenings.

Monte was diagnosed with early stages of Atypical Cushing's Disease. Atypical Cushings disease is a completely different disease than Classic Cushings. Classic Cushings disease is elevated levels of cortisol. Atypical Cushing's disease is elevated levels of sex hormones and in Monte's case he has elevated Estradiol. The medications/supplements prescribed are Melatonin and Lignans. They can be ordered without a prescription. They run about $35.00 for three months.

This does not keep him from being a total snuggle bug and an overall doll baby. He does need to be an only dog. He has some separation anxiety when left alone. He needs someone who is home with him most of the time. He is not a barker! not even for the doorbell. The only thing he barks at are running lawnmowers. He doesn't get upset during a storm or fireworks. He just needs a home where he can be the center of someone's attention and affection.
