My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SANDY was rescued from the cold streets of McKees Rocks Bottoms with her four kittens. Then she came here and had to go in a crate, then to surgery and now she is slowly re-adjusting to staying at the rescue. Sandy would really benefit from a quieter house where she can be held while yinz snuggle. She needs a family or person of her own to give her a chance. She has come around a lot in two months. At first she would constantly have her head down and covered in a blanket. Now I hold her and kiss her face. She b I guarantee you'll love her needs someone to bond too. Her own family, and she will be fine.

Please read this part : For most cats, living in a cat rescue (or shelter) is difficult and overwhelming. They got here because either they were homeless on the street, or a very unsafe / neglectful situation. Then they come here and most get a bath and then go into living in a crate (sm palace, you"ll see). After quarantine they go for their surgery/testing. Then if they are adults and socially ready they can play and be out in general population. Especially for the smaller ones and their health and safety -they are kept in their crates until adoption. Once they get to their forever home, they adapt to their humans. They follow their routine. SANDY is doing well in general population, but has only been here a short amount of time.

,,,,,,,A little bit about me, is my rescue is on the 2nd-3rd floors of my Pittsburgh home. Once I get the kitties fully vetted, I let them be free to play and snuggle as they please. So if you want to come and visit call, text or email. Picking a companion animal is easier in person, then it is from a photo. Plus I don"t take the best photos. I rescued and live with the cats so I am very familiar with their personalities. Vetting fees have also gone up a lot, just like everything else. The little bit of money we make off of adoptions goes right back into the mix to help the next stray in need. I do not get the funding like the big non profits so adopting from me supports what I do.....I pull theses helpless animals from the streets of Pittsburgh. The other big names take cats from inside of homes, I give the other ones a chance.

I have great reviews on Google, people seem to like my set up and how I do things so If you are looking to adopt, give a small rescue with about 15 cats to choose from a chance.

If you are on Tik Toc follow us @saveourstrays.pgh and see some of the amazing rescues we have done and follow to see who we save next!

SANDY is fully vetted. That means spayed, dewormed, -2 vaccines for FVRCP, microchipped and tested for FeLV & FIV ( negative). The combo test alone at a private vet will cost $120 but we already paid and did all the hard work for you. They need nothing but your love and care.

Save Our Strays uses some of our profits and donations to get surgeries done for cats that have no one to pay to get them spayed/neutered (TNR). Our first two years we sterilized over 100 community cats, preventing 1000s of them from being born outside.

If you are interested in any of the cats, please call & leave a voicemail or send a text .412 863 0064. I do not have a long application process, just call and talk to me to set up an appointment to meet n greet the kitten. I am always available via phone with any questions you might have, even down the road.
