Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Yeti!
Yeti does not have any special needs. He does not need an experienced adopter but we will need to teach the new handler how to introduce him to dogs. He is very energetic. The only concern with children is his exuberance. We are working on impulse control. He will just love on kids and jump on them right now.
With cats he has a moderate interest in his fosters dog-savvy cats. He has done well with them, but will probably torture (because he won't leave them alone) a less confident cats. Cats should always have an escape route available from all dogs. .
Yeti's puppy-like exuberance means not every dog is going to like him. He is learning manners from Banjo and the other resident dogs. He simply wants to play and once the other dogs realize that they are pretty tolerant and will play with him. He has even worn down Stella the senior to the point that she plays a little with him.
Yeti is playful, friendly, affectionate, gentle, smart, funny, athletic and his favorite toys are rope toys, bones, squeaky stuffed toys. He LOVES tug of war. He is great at self-play. Give him a toy and he will entertain himself for a long while. Don't give him a toy and he will make something else into one.
Training Needs: impulse control. Working on look, sit, stay, leave it. He has begun agility lessons and loves it - very enthusiastic jumper, jumps about 2x as high as needs to.
Medical needs: just needs to gain a little weight and should be kept on flea preventive as he does have an allergy to fleas.
Activity level: moderate - needs daily walks and play time
Favorite activities: long walks, runs, training sessions, couch time, tug of war, keep away/chase games.

Our multi-step adoption process includes an application, meet and greet, animal introductions when applicable, and a home check. We highly value the time and effort put into adoption applications, and encourage thorough, thoughtful responses as this is our primary avenue for getting to know your family. With that in mind, please be aware that applications with excessive blank or one-word responses may not be considered.
Animal introductions will be done for each pet currently living in the household. While we are not here to judge your lifestyles, we also conduct home checks to ensure that the household and backyard will be a safe living environment for a SacRDR dog. The Declaration page of your Homeowners Insurance policy or an approval letter from your landlord must be submitted with your adoption application; these documents are required to ensure that your HOI or landlord covers/accepts the breed you are applying to adopt.
If you have any additional questions, please email adopt@sacrdr.org.
